VIDEO 3: FORMING & REWIRING BELIEFS

As children, we develop all sorts of positive and negative associations to the world around us... most of which are determined by the structure set by our primary caregivers.  The way that we learn to navigate the world becomes wired into our brain as neural pathways, and this wiring influences how we see & respond to our environment.  

As adults, it can be a powerful exercise to reflect on the perspective and beliefs we hold, and make conscious decisions about what beliefs resonate with us and which don't.  

This lesson offers context around how we adopt beliefs, as well as a process that can be used to reprogram them.


VIDEO 4: FIVE STEP PROCESS TO REWIRE LIMITING BELIEFS

Reflection:

STEP 1: Practice Awareness: Notice a limiting or unkind thought you are having during your day

STEP 2: Identify the Source:

 Choose an embodiment practice (meditation, restorative yoga, yoga nidra, etc) and beforehand, close your eyes and say 3x, 'subconscious, please show me what memories this thought pattern of is sourced from: (your thought)'  Journal whatever arises, stream of consciousness style.  It could be pictures, symbols, memories, fragmented, etc - don't judge it, just listen, notice, & record!  

 When you are finished, identify a belief that lives in your neural pathways that is causing the limiting/unkind thought.  Write it down.

STEP 3: Hydration: What else could be true?

STEP 4: Medicine: Write down all the reasons why the belief isn't true

STEP 5: Antidote: Rewrite the statement so that it is nourishing & expansive for you
