(60 min YOGA) Vinyasa for Nervous System Balance w/ Amanda Leaveck

We made a custom PLAYLIST on Spotify to enjoy with this class…
This class is sequenced to include a lot of balancing postures. Not only do balancing postures help focus the mind, but they also be a little activating to the nervous system if you find yourself falling out of them frequently. During these moments of activation, see if you can practice a neutral awareness and kind relationship with the present moment.
I included a couple of edgy yin postures near the end of class with a similar intention - while you are holding a shape that feels uncomfortable, notice if your system is reacting. Modulate the reactivity of your nervous system with deep breaths, intentional softening of muscle tone, and evoking a loving presence. Always take breaks when you need to take breaks. Throughout class, the main intention is to practice the conscious regulation of your nervous system when your sympathetic (fight for flight) nervous system is being activated
Reflection Questions
1) When, during class, do I find myself reacting (ie. fight or flight) vs. responding (evoking conscious awareness)?
2) When, during my every day life, do I find myself reacting (ie. fight for flight) vs. responding (evoking conscious awareness)?
3) What does it feel like in my body to react vs. respond?
